You Are Not Alone

I watched this video for the first time today and I love it! I have always loved this song, but the video portrays the meaning so well.
Enjoy:

I know that often times I feel like I am so alone in the world. I think we all experience that at different times in our lives. The feeling of being LOST is one of the worst. I always used to say that my worst fear was being alone, and I think that is still true. But, we are not alone. We often chose to be alone. Out of fear, shame, low self-esteem, or depression.

I think that it is important to make it a priority to surround yourself with a support system throughout your adoption experience. All of us (adoptees, birth parents, adoptive parents) need that.  Attending adoption conferences, firesides, support groups and just spending time with people involved in adoption can really help.

Involving yourself in FSA and serving others can help ease your own load.  I know that I made it through the placement of E because of the support and examples I got from my Birth Mom group. Sometimes it can be hard to surround yourself in adoption because of the painful reminders, but at the same time it is comforting to know others have been where you are now.  Let others know you are hurting. Someone always cares.

"Cause you are not alone
And I am there with you
And we'll get lost together..."
